Santa has paired up with our Riverside FANS volunteers and together they have blessed our families with Christmas cheer! Thank you to the Fifth Third Bank located on Main Street in Troy. Your generosity is inspiring!  Also, thank you to our volunteers for spending a couple of hours putting together the bikes!

Friday, 12/16/2016 - Men's and High School Special Olympics Basketball Teams plat at Troy Christian HS.
We've had an exciting last-minute addition to the basketball calendar this weekend! Our Men’s and High School Special Olympics teams will play at the halftime of the Troy Christian High School JV and Varsity games Saturday night, starting at 6:30pm. Come on out and cheer on our athletes!

We are so happy to share with everyone the first episode of our new show, ABLE TV. Our friends at Wotvc Piqua Channel 5 helped us put this program together to share the exciting things going on in Miami County for people with developmental disabilities. We hope you enjoy!

Wednesday, 11/09/2016 - Holiday Ornaments Shared with Hospice
Today, two of our Aktion Club members delivered the dozens and dozens of holiday ornaments made by our club, to volunteers and administrators for Ohio's Hospice of Miami County. The ornaments were made with lots of love, and will hopefully cheer the patients who will receive the trees put together by the dedicated hospice volunteers. We are so grateful for a chance to be a part of this wonderful project, and our members love serving the community!

Saturday, 11/05/2016 - Recreation / Special Olympics Programs
It's a busy day for our Recreation/Special Olympics program! We have athletes competing in two tournaments: a swim tournament in Darke County and flag football in Madison County. We also have a group on a field trip to the Armstrong Museum in Wapakoneta. 

Wednesday, 10/26/2016 - Miami County Foundation to support Miamibucs
Overseen by Dr. Faye McNerney, a physical therapist with Riverside Developmental Disabilities, Miamibucs received funding for the purchase of eight trykes, which will be given to Miami County residents with disabilities.

Monday, 10/24/2016 - Living Trust & Estate Planning
Riverside Developmental Disabilities will host an information session for people with disabilities, their family members, providers and advocates on the topic of guardianship, estates and trusts. The session will be held Thursday, October 27 at 6 p.m. at Riverside (1625 Troy Sidney Rd., Troy)

Riverside Developmental Disabilities recently received a grant from the Stouder Memorial Foundation to host Autism Movement Therapy® training for parents of children with autism, and teachers and professionals who work with people with autism.

Monday, 08/03/2015 - Fundraiser to Provide Special Bikes to Kids
Recently, therapists from Miami County schools, Riverside, and parents have started a group called "Miamibucs." The organization is a chapter of the national organization AMBUCS who distributes adapted tricycles.

During Thursday’s executive meeting at Riverside Developmental Disabilities, retired state Rep. Richard Adams presented Hal Heiner of Piqua with a Resolution of Commendation from the Ohio House of Representatives for his service to individuals with developmental disabilities.

Monday, 11/24/2014 - Riverside Board Approves Strategic Plan
The Miami County Board of Developmental Disabilities, also known as Riverside, recently approved a strategic plan that will guide the organization from 2015 through 2017. The organization initiated a strategic planning exercise in April, examining the different issues facing the developmental disabilities industry on the federal and state levels.
