A Star is Born - Jason McCabe Uses Talent to Promote Special Olympics

Jason McCabe, an individual served by Riverside Developmental Disabilities, Miami County’s Board of Developmental Disabilities, has a gift for vocal communication. With his smooth voice, infectious energy and ability to speak distinctly, Jason is a natural on a microphone. For many years, he has served as the deejay during Riverside’s annual spring fling dance. He also often serves as a play-by-play announcer during Special Olympics basketball and soccer games.

Jason recently helped Riverside promote the Berry Special Olympics Soccer Tournament, a part of the Troy Strawberry Festival in June. He visited local radio stations Troy Community Radio and WPTW to talk on-air with morning show hosts and Logan Francis, Riverside’s Recreation Manager. Jason did such a terrific job during their first interview that he was invited back to record a public service announcement that played in weeks before the event. Troy Community Radio’s hosts were so impressed with Jason and enjoyed having him in the studio that they extended an open invitation to Jason “the Voice of Riverside” to come back anytime to promote the organization’s events in the future.
